The expansion of the facility at Charles de Gaulle Airport, which is currently the largest FedEx hub outside the United States, will allow the hub to handle a significantly larger number of packages and documents and will enable the further development and improvement of the company’s comprehensive range of products and services.
Thanks to a joint investment by FedEx and Aéroports de Paris, valued at $158 million, the new facility will cover an area of 77,000 square meters. The sorting area will increase from 46,600 square meters to 72,000 square meters, and sorting capacity will rise from 54,000 documents per hour to 61,500.
The expansion will strengthen efforts to develop the multimodal platform of Roissy-CDG airport, which is intended to increase the competitiveness and attractiveness of the region and France as a whole. As a founding member of the CAREX project, which aims to develop high-speed freight trains in Europe, FedEx has demonstrated its commitment to using rail as an alternative logistics solution for express deliveries in Europe, enabling the reduction of noise and carbon emissions.
