ECR Poland Council supports GDSN

On June 4, 2008, the ECR Management Board decided to actively support the implementation of GDSN in Poland. This support was expressed in a signed letter of intent addressed to all ECR members in Poland. Worldwide, more than 15,000 companies are already using GDSN.
The implementation of GDSN aims to streamline communication between trading partners using compatible, certified electronic catalogs. Thanks to them, retailers and suppliers have access to up-to-date data describing specific products – in a continuous and secure manner. The letter of intent, signed by Stefan Golonka and Francois Colombie, Chairmen of the ECR Poland Management Board, is intended to be an impetus for the development of the Global Data Synchronization Network in our country.

– Thousands of companies in various countries are already successfully using certified GDSN databases, such as 1Sync or SA2 Worldsync – reads the letter. – Some of these companies belong to ECR Poland, and their practical experience with the solutions used can have a significant impact on achieving quick and measurable benefits on our home ground as well.

Active support from ECR Poland for GDSN should result in a significant increase in interest from domestic companies in participating in the Global Data Synchronization Network, especially since one of the world’s best catalogs, SA2 Worldsync, is already operating in Poland, which was created by merging the largest European catalog, SINFOS, with one of the largest American catalogs, Agentrics.

– We hope that Polish companies, encouraged by the example set by global corporations, will quickly see the benefits and conveniences that master data synchronization brings in cooperation with retail chains – believes Elżbieta Hałas, head of GS1 Poland.
