The article presents research methods for components of the SI engine control system. A diagnostic program designed for the service maintenance of Nissan vehicles was used for this purpose. Methods for measuring the basic parameters of selected systems are presented. Furthermore, the causes of improper control that can lead to serious vehicle damage are discussed. The term “diagnosis,” derived from the Greek word “diagnosis,” means determination or recognition. Nowadays, with the staggering pace of development in the automotive industry, this term is taking on a new meaning. The combination of microelectronics with new IT solutions means that vehicle inspection requires extensive knowledge from specialized diagnostic station staff. It is also a challenge for designers and research centers that develop new diagnostic methods and procedures. All of this is aimed at increasing the quality of repairs and shortening the time needed to locate a fault.
