DHL assists with the delivery of a new Embraer

At the end of April, the LOT Polish Airlines fleet was expanded with the first of four contracted Embraer 195 passenger aircraft. After landing at Chopin Airport in Warsaw, the aircraft underwent customs clearance procedures under the supervision of dedicated DHL Global Forwarding employees.

The aircraft arrived in Warsaw directly from the manufacturer in Brazil and is the first of its type to fly in LOT livery. To date, the carrier has been using 29 aircraft from the Brazilian manufacturer, including ten Embraer 170 models, 14 Embraer 175 models, and five Embraer 145s. By February 2012, the LOT fleet will be expanded by another three Embraer 195 aircraft.

– The aircraft was declared for the end-use release for free circulation procedure, which allows for preferential tariff treatment due to its final destination. The specifics of this customs procedure meant, in this particular case, the application of reduced customs duty rates – said Monika Olesińska, Customs Broker Manager at DHL Global Forwarding. – Placing the goods under this procedure required obtaining the appropriate permit in advance. During the inspection with the Customs Office, we verified the aircraft’s documentation on board, including serial numbers and engine numbers, as well as the certificates necessary for its admission to service in Poland – added Monika Olesińska.

The Embraer 195, the largest model in the Embraer family, is a medium-range aircraft (2,600 km). The aircraft’s maximum cruising speed is 890 km/h, and its length and wingspan are 38.65 and 28.72 meters, respectively. It has 112 passenger seats on board. Since its maiden flight to Brussels on April 15th of this year, the aircraft has already been operating medium-range flights within LOT’s European network.
