Benefits of Euro-Label

An interview with Franz Haslinger, project manager at the Euro-Label organization
Michał Koralewski: Do you notice any significant differences between Polish and European e-commerce?
Franz Haslinger: No, I do not see any major differences. We all have to comply with European legislation, and the only difference is the possibility of accessing the Internet. Currently, only about 25 percent of households and companies in Poland have permanent Internet access. The level of e-commerce will grow along with the number of new network users. In Austria, over 80 percent of households have an Internet connection, and more than 76 percent of all people who use it shop in e-stores. The future of e-commerce depends on whether we will have stores that can be trusted, and whether the development of information technology will be supported by the government and Internet providers.
M.K.: The Institute of Logistics and Warehousing in Poznań is preparing to take on the role of the Euro-Label certification body in our country. What benefits does Euro-Label offer to sellers and buyers?
F.H.: The task of the Euro-Label symbol is to provide consumers with a sense of security and to provide sellers with a mechanism supporting e-commerce by building consumer trust and increasing online sales. Thanks to the European Code of Conduct, common to all users of the mark, a high standard of customer service is maintained. This trust symbol is supported by the European Commission, industry associations, and consumer protection organizations of European Union countries.
M.K.: What are the next stages of awarding the Euro-Label mark?
F.H.: The certification process consists of six steps. First, you need to find the right certification body and submit your application to it. Before starting the procedure, the seller must sign an agreement describing in detail the general terms and conditions and the subsequent stages of the process. Then, the certification body checks whether the company is registered in the country and begins the preliminary assessment procedure.
