Asian recovery benefits Comarch

The economic recovery in Asia, compared to the stagnating rest of the world, is having a positive impact on the growth of orders for the Comarch capital group, which is signing new contracts in China, Vietnam, and Thailand.

By implementing its strategy in Asian markets, Comarch, together with the German company SoftM acquired in December, is effectively capitalizing on the situation in Asia. According to forecasts by the research firm Gartner, the value of IT spending in China will continue to grow, despite a downward trend in other regions.

– Asian markets hold great potential. This opportunity cannot be wasted – says Janusz Filipiak, CEO of Comarch.

In the Asian market, Comarch operates through its two subsidiaries located in Shanghai, China, and Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

– SoftM is already signing its first partnership agreements. Companies collaborating with Comarch are identifying end clients, implementing software, and providing support – says Piotr Piatosa, CEO of the German company SoftM, which belongs to the Comarch Group.

SoftM has received an order from China to supply over 1,000 Semiramis licenses in 2009. The demand for this enterprise management system, adapted to the Chinese market (in terms of language and regulations), is estimated at approximately 10,000 licenses. The target clients for the application are medium-sized manufacturing and trading companies with 500 or more employees. There is a very high percentage of such enterprises in China.

Comarch has also begun a project to implement an internet banking system at one of the leading banks in the Thai market. The planned project will cover several systems in the field of corporate online customer service. The completion of the first stage of work and the associated production launch of the system is scheduled for the first quarter of 2010.

For several months now, the popular platform for the electronic exchange of invoices and orders between retail chains and manufacturers – Comarch ECOD – has been available in the Asian region. Comarch has just launched an ECOD pilot project with a large Vietnamese chain that plans to initiate electronic communication with 2,500 of its suppliers.

The Polish listed company has also hired local specialists who are strengthening the sales, call center support, and development teams. Soon, Comarch intends to open a Data Center in China dedicated to Asian projects.
