– The days when companies could freely plan production months in advance are becoming a thing of the past. More and more manufacturers must react instantly to demand fluctuations while maintaining the quality of their offerings. In Poland, which is already a production hub for Europe, this is a common challenge. Companies are producing more and supplying an increasing number of markets – explains Dariusz Kudzia, President of the Polish branch of Apriso.
Scandinavian Tobacco SA in Myślenice faced this very challenge. From here, the branch supplies Poland (17 percent of the market), as well as European and Asian markets (half of the production is exported), where different tastes dominate and evolve. Rapid adaptation and maintaining the quality of the offer while production grows therefore requires efficient management of quality control as well as variable and short-run production in real time. The Apriso system (MES class) will ensure this comfort for the company.
The Apriso system will allow, among other things, reacting to changes and controlling production and logistics processes within a maximum of a few minutes from an event. Thanks to special readers, the Apriso system will provide insight into the production floor in real time, recording processes at the level of the individual employee. In this way, the flow of information between the “bottom” and the “top” will become more complete and faster. This will simultaneously translate into mechanisms for controlling and reporting actual component consumption and recording the full “genealogy” of products, i.e., the history of how a finished product was created, including verification of the supplier of every component.
