Manifestations of the negative impact of transport on the environment.
Intensive industrial development, increased extraction of raw materials, the emergence of large urban-industrial agglomerations, the widespread use of chemicals in agriculture, environmental pollution caused by transport activities, and the enormous increase in the number of cars in individual motorization – all this leads to the gradual destruction of the human environment, the deterioration of living conditions, and the reduction of national wealth.
The harmful impact of transport on the environment manifests itself in various forms and with varying intensity, depending on the area and the types of transport means used for the carriage of persons and goods. The most common manifestations of this impact are:
environmental degradation caused by the construction of transport routes (land consumption) and various types of burdensome transport facilities that distort the environment or have a harmful effect on the surroundings, noise from transport means and certain transport facilities, vibrations and oscillations harmful to people and building structures, air pollution with exhaust gases, fumes, and dust, the aggressiveness of transport traffic and other conflict situations on roads and streets (safety threats), soil and water pollution, and the destruction of vegetation by chemicals,
littering the environment with various waste and used durable goods, psychosomatic and physiological threats to transport workers and people in direct contact with intense transport traffic.
