The first EU tariff of PKP Cargo SA – part 2

The transport charge is calculated by multiplying the basic charge for a shipment weighing 25 tons, appropriate for a specific tariff distance, by the established correction factor corresponding to the tariff weight of the shipment. Fees and rates included in the tariff, expressed in:
• Polish zloty (PLN), are applied mainly to shipments transported in domestic and international traffic (export/import), except in cases where payments are made by customers based outside the Republic of Poland,
• Euro (EUR) – for shipments transported in transit and in export/import when payments are made by customers based abroad, including in European Union countries.

Basic tariff charges are listed in Table A-1 (currency PLN) and A-2 (currency EUR), and correction factors in Table A-3. Freight and additional charges do not include Value Added Tax (VAT). Charges for the transport of a shipment with a contractual delivery time are determined in a separate agreement concluded with the sender. The accession of the Republic of Poland to the EU resulted in PKP Cargo SA’s withdrawal from the International Transit Tariff (MTT) and the application of the PKP Transit Freight Tariff, as well as the expansion of the scope of the current PKP Cargo tariff to include transport services provided in transit through Poland. A comparison of current tariff charges for the transport of 25 tons of cargo on the main transit routes West – East – West and South – North is presented in the attached table. The data in this table shows that charges converted from the Swiss franc (CHF) currency of the MTT tariff and from the euro currency of the new PKP Cargo SA tariff indicate a level of tariff charges in the Polish freight tariff that is over 30% lower, which creates greater opportunities for acquiring transit cargo. Charges for the transport of a loaded 20′ large container become even more competitive on these routes. The charges adopted in the Polish tariff are approximately 40% lower than the charges resulting from the MTT tariff, which obviously positions our carrier appropriately in the difficult international transport services market.
