The companies One-2-One, SignForm, and the Polish Security Printing Works (PWPW) have developed a project to introduce a Secure Mobile Electronic Signature to the Polish market. By using a standard mobile phone with a special SIM card, it will be possible to sign official documents. A mobile phone equipped in this way could be used for communication with institutions (tax offices, city halls) and large companies (banks, cable television operators).
Signing documents using the proposed method would minimize the need for visits to government offices. The mobile phone could also serve as a universal token in electronic banking, authenticating access to state IT registers (National Court Register, land and mortgage registers, etc.) and auction sites. Using a mobile phone would eliminate the drawbacks of previous solutions based on traditional microprocessor cards. Its primary advantages are the low infrastructure cost for all system participants and the ability to use a single “electronic identity” across multiple services.
