Hofwiesenpark in Gera is a 30-hectare exhibition area where 430 trees and 55,000 plants have already been planted. In Ronneburg, in the New Landscape, a total of 6,000 trees, 30,000 roses, and 55,000 plants are already growing in designated areas covering 45 hectares. From April to October 2007, Schenker will carry out over 450 plant transports. As planned by the organizers, the entire 800-hectare area and the 75-hectare exhibition site must be decorated with plants and additional decorative elements. In addition to being responsible for collecting plants from garden centers across Germany and transporting them to their destination, the logistics operator will also handle customs procedures for plants originating from countries outside the European Union. During the BUGA operations, in addition to standard trucks, Schenker also uses box trucks and large jumbo vehicles. Particularly sensitive flowers are transported in special refrigerated trucks.
