Private container train in Poland

In mid-August of this year, the first private container train in Poland was launched.

Just 11 hours were enough for the train, filled with containers in Brzeg Dolny, to reach the port in Świnoujście. This is the first private container train in Poland, which, since August 11, 2005, has been connecting the Lower Silesia region with the port in Świnoujście at least twice a week. Intermodal transport services began to be handled by the PCC Group, which includes the private carrier PCC Rail Szczakowa SA. Thus, a permanent connection between Lower Silesia and the port was established. The loading of containers takes place at their own container terminal in Brzeg Dolny, located on the premises of the PCC Rokita SA siding. The logistics operator for the entire venture, including the service of transporting containers from the client to the terminal, is PCC Rail Containers Sp. z o.o. (company name in the process of registration, changing from PCC Rail Spedkol). The cargo consists of containers from the PCC ROKITA plants and other shippers. The transport of containers is carried out using their own traction rolling stock (wagons and locomotives) by one of the largest private railway carriers in Poland, PCC Rail Szczakowa SA.
– This is the first train, but certainly not the last – assures Adam Adamek, CEO of PCC Rail Containers Sp. z o.o., which is the logistics operator for these transports. – First, we launched regular transport from our container terminal in Brzeg Dolny, but soon similar trains will begin connecting other container terminals with the ports in Świnoujście and Szczecin.
