New terminal in Wrocław

DHL Express, a logistics and transport services provider, is opening a modern terminal in Wrocław. This investment is one of the points in the Group’s strategy related to the development of the DHL European logistics network. The value of the new facility is 3.3 million euros.

DHL Express is commissioning one of the 5 terminals scheduled to be launched in 2005. This is a step towards building a modern logistics infrastructure that meets customer expectations. The newly commissioned facility in Wrocław will ultimately handle both domestic and international shipments.

– Poland, especially since joining the European Union, is a strategic country for us, serving as a window for the development of our business in Eastern Europe. – said Dr. Peter Kruse, member of the DPWN board, responsible for DHL Express in Europe. – This high-class facility will streamline operational processes and improve the logistics infrastructure of the entire DHL division.

The modernization of the terminal in Lower Silesia is a result of the region’s above-average economic conditions in Poland. According to the assessment of the rating agency Standard & Poor’s, the local economy of Wrocław performed very favorably compared to most Polish cities. The commissioning of the terminal in Wrocław and the launch of further investments in the near future is the result of the consistently pursued development strategy of DHL Express. The terminal in Wrocław will be able to handle up to 15,000 packages per day. Thanks to the installation of a sorting belt, the shipment sorting process will be efficient and fast. The applied solutions will extend the “time window,” i.e., the time that DHL Express couriers spend serving customers. In practice, this means that DHL Express customers will be able to send their shipments much later and receive them earlier than before.

The terminal in Wrocław will be integrated into the DHL Express road network map, which will also have strategic importance for supplementing the network based on 3 sorting facilities in Głuchów near Poznań, Zabrze, and Warsaw.
