DHL is building a Mega Food Distribution Center (32,000 sqm) in Kersdonk – Tisselt.
A favorable location and the availability of human resources led DHL Exel Supply Chain to decide to build its new logistics center in Tisselt. In the first phase of the project, 32,000 sqm of the center will be built. A maximum expansion of the area by another 40,000 sqm is planned for the years 2006-2009.
Jan Deltour, Managing Director of DHL Exel Supply Chain in Belgium, believes that before the start of 2009, between 300 and 350 employees will be needed in Kersdonk, which will make it possible to carry out all the planned functions of the new operational center.
For the implementation and investment in the project, DHL Exel Supply Chain chose Eurinpro – an investor and developer in the logistics real estate market, from whom it will lease the new distribution center. As part of its comprehensive customer service strategy, Eurinpro selected the most convenient location for DHL Exel.
– The chosen location is only 3 km away from the A12 route, connecting Antwerp with Brussels. The planned logistics center will be situated 30 km from Antwerp and the port located there, and 30 km from Brussels and the international airport – explains Yves Boonen, Country Manager of Eurinpro in Belgium. – Furthermore, the barge terminal located in Willebroek is only 7 km away from the chosen location, which significantly facilitates access to the planned facility and also increases its multifunctionality.
