Logistical education – a cultural issue

The triune formula of ecologistic education consists of:
– philosophy along with the foundations of theory
– practice along with applied sciences and the implementation of their results
– culture along with the indications of the values of pro-ecological behaviors, which is the very subject of these considerations.
Three is an almost cabalistic number, both in media communication and in environmental organization. Mikołaj Rej’s (1505-1569) “A Short Discourse Among Three Persons: A Lord, a Village Head, and a Parson” (1543) is well known. In Vitruvius (1st century BC), an ancient Roman architect, the triune formula of building design appears in the definition of architecture (dispositio, i.e., technical structural solution; decor, i.e., appropriateness and aesthetics of the solution; distributio, i.e., economic application of construction resources). In religion, this complex is also sometimes present (the Holy Trinity), as well as in governance (triumvirates, not only Roman ones). This, of course, does not justify the reason for the intention to capture the short issue of the problem in three segments, in which the starting point of the thought construction was a completely different premise, a fascinating one, taken from the geopolitical treatise of Caesar, a Roman politician and commander, “De bello Gallico” (On the Gallic War).
But it is worth and necessary to emphasize that there are three conditions for the organization of social life, the formation and existence of human communities, and exerting influence on the course of processes occurring within them: natural (accumulating biological, demographic, and geographical conditions), economic, and cultural.
Education (Latin: educatio) means upbringing, schooling.
Ecologistics (Greek: oikós = home, environment and Greek: logistikós = relating to thinking) is a compound neologism and, most generally, means logistics in ecological perception. A broader look at its definition, development, and attributes is discussed in the further part of the issue.

The article comes from the magazine “Logistyka” No. 1/2005.
