Kuehne+Nagel has become a strategic partner for Conforama, a PPR company, the second-largest retailer in the world and number 1 in France, specializing in home furnishings and appliances. The cooperation will support the strengthening of the retailer’s market position in the future.
A new 65,000 sqm distribution center located in Chartres, southeast of Paris, is now fully operational. The facility, designed and operated by Kuehne+Nagel in cooperation with Conforama, is part of the retailer’s new strategy, which is based on combining four regional distribution centers and one national center in Chartres.
Specialists from Kuehne+Nagel in Chartres have been entrusted with all warehouse processes, order management, and inventory handling for Conforama in France.
Goods management at this facility covers the entire range of the retailer’s products, from home furnishings and decorative materials, large and small home appliances, to consumer electronics and computers. The distribution center can receive and handle 150 full truckloads and containers per day.
In addition to the warehouse operations undertaken in Chartres, Kuehne+Nagel acts as a preferred partner for Conforama, responsible for cargo consolidation in Asia and river transport from Antwerp (Belgium) and Le Havre (France) to Conforama warehouses in France and Switzerland.
Relying on its expertise in organizing logistics and experience in piloting end-to-end logistics projects for large retailers, Kuehne+Nagel played a key role in implementing new processes and systems across all Conforama logistics centers in France and Europe.
In Chartres, Kuehne+Nagel is currently supporting Conforama in the deployment of its new warehouse and transport management systems (WMS and TMS), including warehouse voice systems.
