Kuehne+Nagel manages second distribution center for Danone in Poland

Danone Sp. z o.o. has entered into a contract with Kuehne+Nagel to operate its new distribution center for fresh dairy products in Chorzów. This agreement marks an expansion of the cooperation between the two companies in Poland; Kuehne+Nagel already manages another Danone distribution facility near Warsaw.

The contract covers the operation of the new ProLogis Park facility in Chorzów, where Kuehne+Nagel manages 4,000 sqm of warehouse space leased by Danone, in a strategic location near Katowice to serve the growing market of customers in the southern part of Poland.

Kuehne+Nagel receives and accepts goods, and also provides warehousing, sorting, repacking, and just-in-time order preparation services in accordance with Danone’s distribution schedule.
By the end of 2007, operations in this refrigerated warehouse (4o C) will be further supported by modern P2V (voice-picking) technology, which will result in a high level of order picking productivity and streamline inventory replenishment processes.

Piotr Stażyk, Distribution Manager at Danone in Poland, said:

– The decision to choose Kuehne+Nagel was based on our positive previous experience with this company. Kuehne+Nagel already manages our distribution center for central and northern Poland located in Błonie near Warsaw. By having both facilities managed by the same logistics service provider, we anticipate benefits from potential synergies.

David Roussiere, responsible for contract logistics operations at Kuehne+Nagel in Poland, added:
– This new contract is a confirmation for us of our expertise and reliability in meeting the high requirements of the FMCG industry. Our solid experience in this sector, combined with our regional distribution network, enables us to support companies like Danone in maintaining a competitive reach in their market, as well as supporting their operational development for Eastern Europe.
