The European Union Statistical Office, Eurostat, reported that the unemployment rate in Poland in June of this year was 18.9 percent, the highest in the European Union, but lower than a year ago (19.2 percent). Less optimistic information comes from the Central Statistical Office – according to its report, the unemployment rate as of June 30 of this year was 19.4 percent.
The results from the European job and career portal www.jobpilot.pl also proved to be worse than a month ago. In June, the number of job advertisements published on its pages fell slightly, yet it is still significantly higher than a year ago. Further declines should be expected in the coming months due to the holiday break.
Despite the decrease in the total number of offers in most categories, the situation has clearly improved. A relatively large number of offers were addressed to students and graduates, for whom the holidays are an opportunity to gain their first professional experience.
In the Purchasing/Logistics category, a slight increase was recorded this time. In June, 125 offers were addressed to logistics specialists – 5 more than in May. As in previous months, employers were primarily looking for Purchasing Specialists (50 positions), Logistics Managers (32), and Freight Forwarders (12). Furthermore, offers appeared for Import and Export Specialists, Planners, Warehouse Logistics Managers, and specialists in sea and ocean freight.
In connection with the situation on the labor market described above, in the field of Purchasing/Logistics, and in order to make job searching results more effective, the previous issues of the magazine “Logistyka” discussed two stages that should be paid special attention to when looking for a job. These were professional preparation of application documents and proper preparation for a job interview. This article, in turn, presents issues that should be paid special attention to during the individual stages of the recruitment process.
