As part of the LTS TRANSPORTA exhibition held at the Innovations-Technologies-Machines ITM Poland trade fair, on June 21, 2006, the Institute of Logistics and Warehousing – GS1 Poland, organized a seminar aimed at introducing the numerous attendees to the benefits of the practical application of the European logistics label in an integrated supply chain in today’s business reality.
Anna Gawrońska and Grzegorz Sokołowski, representatives of GS1 Poland, pointed out the main benefits resulting from the use of the logistics label in business, including, among others, the example of its functioning application in the JMD retail chain.
The benefits of using the European logistics label in supply chains are manifold; for instance, they accelerate goods receipt and dispatch operations, information transmitted between supply chain participants is clear and unambiguously interpreted by all parties, and, most importantly in today’s economy, its application leads to a reduction in the labor intensity of operational activities and a lowering of logistics process costs.
The application of the logistics label is universal – emphasizes G. Sokołowski, as it can streamline a company’s internal processes, as well as logistics processes occurring throughout the entire supply chain. An additional benefit resulting from the use of the logistics label is more effective monitoring of the flow of goods, i.e., the realization of “traceability” requirements, especially in the food products industry – adds Sokołowski.
The presented solutions are based on international GS1 standards (formerly EAN.UCC) functioning in practice.
