DHL Express (Poland) has opened a modern terminal in Łódź. The value of the investment is €4.5 million. The new facility will serve as a terminal for customers sending shipments from Łódź and the surrounding area, as well as a sorting center (transshipment hub) for express shipments (both parcels and pallets, i.e., so-called general cargo shipments) transported via the DHL Express transport network between terminals in Poland. The terminal will also handle international shipments transported via both DHL’s road and air transport networks. The Łódź terminal will be able to process 22,000 parcels per day. It is equipped with a semi-automatic sorting line for express shipments with a built-in weight and volume scanner; it has 23 gates for line-haul transport, including 12 special gates capable of handling both general cargo and line-haul shipments. Additionally, the facility is equipped with 50 gates for express courier transport and 7 for general cargo courier vehicles. The hall area covers 4,140 sqm. The terminal site also includes a modern shipment reception point for individual customers, as well as an 800 sqm office building connected to the production hall. The terminal currently employs 64 staff members and 76 couriers.
