The article presents the requirements for railway traffic control systems using the ZSB 2000 system by Scheidt&Bachmann as an example. The article describes the basic requirements for railway traffic control systems with limited functionality based on conclusions and experiences from the certification process of the ZSB 2000 system in Poland. In Poland, there are over 6,500 km of lines in operation where traffic does not exceed 10 pairs of trains per day. These are mostly lines of regional importance, where the only possibility for their continued operation is to increase the efficiency of their exploitation. This is possible by equipping these lines with cheaper railway traffic control systems with limited functionality while maintaining the required SIL-4 safety level. Cheaper means systems where both the purchase cost and subsequent operating costs will be lower than those of a traditional railway traffic control system. Such an approach by the Infrastructure Manager requires the development of requirements for such a system. This article will present a general outline of requirements for a system dedicated to lines of regional importance, developed based on the implementation of the ZSB 2000 system by Scheidt&Bachmann in Poland on PKP Polskie
