The paper presents a pin-on-disk test rig for investigating maximum resistance to tribological wear. The rig utilizes a newly developed TT-03 type tester manufactured at the Institute of Machine Design of the Radom University of Technology. The construction of the tester is described, and the scope of the performed tribological tests is provided. Sample measurement results are also presented. On the job one introduced the exploratory position of the type pin-shield to research of the maximum resistance on the tribology waste. The position uses the newly worked out tester of the type TT-03 made in the Institute of Machine
Building of the Technical University of Radom. One circumscribed the construction of the tester and one gave the range of performed tribology research. One gave also of example of the result of measurement.
1. INTRODUCTION
Wear resistance tests are based on the analysis of thermodynamic transformations occurring in an open thermodynamic system. The goal is to determine the conditions under which the system achieves the highest resistance. Considering the process of friction, wear, and the problem of wear resistance at the macroscopic level of matter organization, we adopt the energy balance equation as a basis.
The phenomenological approach leads to an analytical description of wear resistance, where the microscopic structure and properties of matter are not taken into account. In experiments conducted according to the phenomenological approach, the set parameters are: load, friction coefficient, and temperature in the friction zone.
