The article presents the mass characteristics of the SK ejection seat of the TS-11 “Iskra” jet trainer-fighter aircraft. The ejection seat and the principles of its operation are described. A 3D computer model of the object was developed, and results regarding the moments of inertia and deviations of the ejection seat were obtained, which allow for accurate modeling of the seat’s behavior during ejection.
The TS-11 “Iskra” jet trainer-fighter aircraft is equipped with two identical first-generation ejection seats, classified as lightweight seats (56 kg with parachute) [3,4].
They are mounted in the cockpit using a firing mechanism and two guide rails, which are designed to provide direction during ejection. The firing mechanism is intended to secure the seat and prevent it from sliding out of the guides during maneuvers. Disarming the firing mechanism involves removing the ground safety pins of the seat (an action performed by a mechanic before the flight) and pulling the safety pin that locks the firing pin of the pyrotechnic cartridge during an emergency situation.
The removal of the safety pin occurs automatically upon the jettisoning of the cockpit canopy during flight. In the event that the canopy cannot be jettisoned, the pilot has the option to remove the safety manually by pulling the handle attached to the right side of the headrest, in which case the ejection takes place through the cockpit canopy.
