The article presents a three-dimensional model of a railway rail created in the Flux 3D software. This model allows for calculations of the distribution of magnetic induction and magnetic field intensity in the rail and its surroundings. The presented model reproduces the actual non-homogeneous structure of the rail. The main structural element of a railway turnout, apart from the switch blade, slide chairs, and the locking assembly, is the railway rail [1,3].
The primary task of the rail is to guide the wheelsets of railway rolling stock in the correct direction of travel. A railway-type rail consists of three parts: the head (where the rolling stock wheels move), the web (transferring the load to the base), and the base (the part providing support for the whole and transferring the load to the railway sleepers) [4].
In Poland, on lines managed by PKP PLK, two main types of rails are used:
UIC-60, currently 60E, and type S, now 49E. The above rail type designations were introduced along with the implementation of European standards in Poland. Rail types are distinguished by their weight per linear meter and cross-sectional dimensions. (…)
