Good results for Tramino

The first Poznań Tramino went into service in July. At the moment, 23 Solaris Tramino Poznań trams are already running on Poznań’s tracks.

– The first fifteen units have covered over 20,000 kilometers. We rate their technical availability very highly. It stands at a level of 99% – assesses the Solaris Tramino Jan Firlik, Director of the Tram Transport Division at MPK Poznań.

Technical availability at a level of 99% for new products is an exceptionally good result. Usually, newly delivered vehicles for public transport have a much lower indicator at the beginning of their operation. Although the delivery of Tramino for Poznań began in July, the first tram of this brand started running in the capital of Greater Poland back in January of last year. It was a prototype unit that MPK decided to lease. The tram has already covered over 70,000 kilometers in line service on various routes. Its reliability is rated very highly. This unit also helped in introducing several technical changes to the Poznań Tramino, both in the driver’s cab area, as well as in the passenger space and the general appearance of the tram. The Solaris Tramino has also been very well received by Poznań’s public transport users, evidence of which can be found, for example, on social media portals.
At the same time as the first Tramino hit the tracks of Poznań, the Solaris company won another tender for the supply of trams. This time, their recipient will be the German city of Jena, where five Solaris Tramino units will be delivered in 2013. These will be the first Polish-made trams sold on the German market.
In 2009, the Solaris company won a tender for the supply of 40 low-floor Tramino trams for Poznań, financed mostly by European Union funds. Their delivery began in July 2011 and will end in March of this year. Additionally, the ordering party exercised the so-called option provided by public procurement law and ordered a further five trams, the delivery of which will be completed by the end of May, just before the European Football Championship.
The Solaris Tramino that carries passengers in Poznań is nearly 32 meters long, is an articulated, five-section, single-space, and fully low-floor carriage. This means that there are no steps inside it along its entire length.
Four double doors and two single doors ensure free and quick passenger exchange. The width of the double doors is as much as 1500 mm and is the largest currently found in trams offered on the market. In turn, the minimum passage width inside the carriage is 750 mm.
Tramino can take on board as many as 229 passengers, including 48 in seats. Travel in comfortable conditions is ensured by, among other things, a fully air-conditioned passenger space and comfortable seats. An innovative solution applied in the interior of the tram are special rails to which the seats are attached. Thanks to this, it is possible to quickly replace them, add more, or change their arrangement. A great convenience for Tramino passengers is also the placement of two ticket machines in each vehicle unit. In the second section of the Tramino, there is a space for people moving in wheelchairs. Additionally, the tram is equipped with specially marked seats for people with reduced mobility and people with a child.
Passenger information boards mounted inside the vehicle show the direction of the tram’s route, and a voice system announces the nearest stops. In accordance with Poznań tradition, the tram has two round boards on the roof (at the front and back) displaying the line number. The carriage has a driver’s cab separated from the passenger compartment with an independent ventilation and air conditioning system. The traditional dashboard has been replaced by touch screens, with which the driver controls the tram. An adjustable seat, dashboard, and footrest, as well as the adjustment of the control screens, allow the workplace to be adapted to the individual needs of the driver. The manufacturer also thought about a refrigerator, in which cooling drinks can be stored on hot days.
