Polska Street in Gdynia to gain a new “gem”

The Port of Gdynia Authority S.A., as the entity managing port areas, invests not only in port infrastructure but also in superstructure. Old warehouses are disappearing from the port landscape, creating free space for new investment projects. Sometimes they undergo a transformation, adapting to perform a completely new function.

Polska Street in Gdynia to gain a new "gem"

On Monday, October 31, 2011, at the headquarters of the Port of Gdynia Authority S.A., a contract was signed for the reconstruction and expansion of the warehouse and office building at 13A Polska Street, known as the Posti building. As a result of this investment, the building will be completely rebuilt, and the surrounding area properly developed. The goal of the investment is to adapt the building for office and educational functions. In the procedure to select a contractor for the works, conducted in an open tender mode, 9 bids were submitted. The bid from Mostostal Warszawa S.A. was selected for a total gross amount of over 21 million PLN. The contract assumes the completion of all works and obtaining an occupancy permit by the end of March 2013. ZMPG-a S.A., the owner of the building and the investor of this project, is already finalizing talks as a result of which approximately 75% of the space in the facility will find its tenant. Among others, it will house the new headquarters of the Maritime School, which has so far been located on the Dalmor premises. The visualization of the new building’s structure allows us to believe that it will be an ornament to Polska Street and the entire Gdynia port.
