Fixed routes are good business

Freight exchanges are often associated by carriers with a last resort that can save them from empty runs or forced vehicle downtime. In many cases, both the rates offered and the security of transactions concluded on an ad-hoc basis leave much to be desired.

Fixed routes are good business

It might seem that for companies commissioning cargo, cooperation with exchanges is pure profit and an opportunity to find the cheapest carrier on the market. But what about the quality of services and the safety of transported goods? For many logistics operators or freight forwarding companies, the quality and safety of transport services are worth more than a few saved euro cents per kilometer. In reality, both parties, the principal and the transport provider, have the same goal – a sense of security, certainty, and work stability, achieving good service quality, and fair remuneration.
Meeting these needs, Wtransnet, an organization bringing together nearly 9,000 European companies from the TSL sector, was the first on the market to introduce the Contract solution – an exchange for fixed routes and orders. This innovative tool is a kind of platform for establishing long-term cooperation between transport, forwarding, and logistics companies from all over Europe. Contract allows companies to post offers for regular loads, and carriers to enter information about available vehicles on their preferred routes – the solution is available in three options.
The fixed routes exchange allows for long-term cooperation regarding transport on specific routes offered by principals (e.g., three tarpaulin trailers on the Berlin – Warsaw route, on specific days of the week, for a period of half a year). In this way, carriers who specialize in transport in a given direction (e.g., they already have signed contracts for transport to Berlin and are looking for return loads) or whose bases are located close to the loading or unloading point, can establish permanent cooperation, while optimizing the use of their own company’s resources.
Another solution offered by Contract is the fixed orders exchange, which allows for long-term agreements regarding permanent cooperation (e.g., the principal sub-leases a specific number of the carrier’s vehicles on an exclusive basis, ensuring continuous work for a period of one year). Thanks to this solution, the carrier increases the profitability of their company, gaining a sense of stability and becoming independent from the daily necessity of searching for orders on exchanges. The principal gains the certainty of constant execution of the transport they need and better service quality, which is achievable through closer and long-term cooperation.
The trailer exchange available in the Contract service also allows for establishing permanent cooperation between carriers owning tractor units and companies interested in transport. This solution is particularly useful for companies involved in intermodal transport and allows for optimizing resource utilization, both on the side of the carrier and the party commissioning the transport. Thanks to the unique cargo and vehicle matching system offered by Wtransnet, which matches offers in real-time that best meet the criteria set by those posting and accepting loads, Contract easily enables the establishment of long-term cooperation for both parties. The exchange offers a mobile notification system for specified offers, available via messenger, phone, or SMS. Additionally, each party to the “contract” can use the Meeting Point company presentation service, a telephone translation service, a reference and information service about member companies, and a free payment complaint system.
Wtransnet is running a promotional campaign until the end of October 2011, thanks to which access to the fixed routes and orders exchange is up to half price.
