Service vehicles as a rescue for the most common roadside breakdowns

The average driver faces a significant challenge when trying to fix a car breakdown on the road by themselves. Increasingly technologically complex cars require not only a professional mechanic but also specialized equipment that can precisely determine which part of the car has failed.

Service vehicles as a rescue for the most common roadside breakdowns

Starter, a company specializing in roadside assistance, has met these needs by equipping its mobile workshops with 530 different tools – including diagnostic devices universal to all car brands.

– Thanks to the diagnostic device, a Starter mechanic is able to read error codes registered by the vehicle’s controllers, clear errors from the controller’s memory, and measure and observe changes in the operating parameters of individual systems in real-time. Today, all Polish drivers, thanks to Starter’s mechanics and professionally equipped service vehicles, can save their time and the stress associated with an unexpected breakdown – said Witold Cel, Chief Operating Officer at Starter.

The professional equipment on board Starter’s service vehicles enables the repair of many breakdowns. Among the most common cases that Starter mechanics successfully deal with on a daily basis are:
• electrical problems, including discharged batteries that require charging on the road, issues with connections and burnt-out bulbs, surges, short circuits, relay failures;
• tire and wheel mounting damage – using the onboard pneumatic system, a Starter mechanic can inflate tires that are completely flat, which a driver cannot do with a handheld pump, and thanks to wrenches with appropriate sockets, the professional can unscrew wheel bolts in seconds without the risk of damaging aluminum wheel rims;
• brake system problems, where the mechanic can unlock an electric parking brake;
• malfunctioning alarm, which can be deactivated;
• locked-in keys, jammed ignition switch, or problems with lock mechanisms;
• malfunctioning drive and gearbox, which require emergency repair of linkages and cables or unlocking an automatic transmission;
• fuel system troubles that require a mechanic’s intervention to repair damaged fuel lines, a contaminated fuel filter, bleeding, or pumping out incorrectly refueled fuel; the driver can also count on fuel delivery if they have run out in the tank.

The company Starter is the only one in Poland to guarantee assistance with car repairs directly on the road.
