Danish Malting Group Polska Sp. z o.o. from Sierpc and Słodownia Sp. z o.o. in Strzegom are leading producers of brewing malt in Poland. Effective management of raw material supply logistics plays a key role in malt production. It is also essential to guarantee suppliers qualified seed grain, ensuring high yields and raw materials that meet rigorous quality standards.
– Obtaining the right amount of raw material with the appropriate quality parameters requires coordination and efficient management of many business and legal processes and procedures. For companies operating on a larger scale, the implementation of these tasks creates a need for a well-functioning IT system that supports the management of production processes and supply logistics. The functioning of the entire company depends on the stability and reliability of the IT infrastructure – says Agnieszka Kanty, a board member at DMGP Sp. z o.o. from Sierpc.
To manage the malt production process at Danish Malting Group Polska, PS-Info developed and implemented a proprietary network system called Fraktal. From coordinating raw material supply contract procedures, through automating raw material intake using a weighing processor, managing the production process, to distribution logistics and a complex reporting system – the Fraktal system enables the management of most business processes related to malt production. Due to the fact that Danish Malting Group Polska had long been using solutions from an A-brand, a major challenge for PS-Info was convincing the company to use locally produced solutions. The flexibility of the ACTION company regarding the offered configurations and the price competitiveness of Actina Solar servers were the deciding factors.
– Actina Solar servers allowed us to gain a significant competitive advantage. The flexibility of the ACTION company regarding the delivered solutions and their affordable price ultimately decided our victory in the tender – says Dariusz Skowyrski from the PS-Info Computer Services Studio. – Where the competition could only install 8 SAS drives or proposed external arrays, we – based on Actina Solar servers – were able to mount 10 – he adds.
A major undertaking was migrating all of DMG Polska’s data, including migrating data from SAP to NAV Dynamics, from the existing IT system to the new Fraktal system. Changing the location of valuable company resources always involves risk.
The Fraktal system supports the following business processes:
• Concluding supply contracts with raw material producers (farmers) – suppliers;
• Recording raw material deliveries (automation of intake using a weighing processor, recording and validation of laboratory raw material assessments);
• Concluding seed contracts with suppliers;
• Recording the distribution of seed grain;
• Managing stocks of purchased raw materials and produced final goods (warehouse management);
• Managing the production process (production planning, recording: production batches, laboratory raw material analyses, inter-operational analyses, laboratory final product analyses, etc.);
• Managing the quality of final products (recording certificates, product traceability – from which raw material, from which supplier, and when a specific production batch was produced);
• Distribution logistics (sales planning, recording contracts with customers, managing the logistics supply chain of final products, “passportization” – gathering complete information about the final product, automated release of goods from warehouses using a weighing processor);
• An extensive reporting module for purchasing and sales controlling needs in a form friendly to operators and management staff. Additionally, a “custom” report creator is included for every user, allowing for the definition of a report in any format and further processing in a spreadsheet;
• Automation of information exchange with raw material suppliers and final product customers using MS Exchange email;
• Cooperation consisting of data exchange with the financial and accounting system (Dynamics NAV, Jet Reports, others).
