On intralogistics in Poznań

Discussions, thematic lectures, plenary sessions, exhibitors presenting technical innovations, conferences with guests from Poland and abroad… This is what the three-day (May 12-14), 10th edition of the Logistics & Eurolog 2010 Congress looked like. The latest solution in the industry was presented by the President of STILL Polska, Borys Wochna. In his speech “Intralogistics of the Future,” he presented the idea of creating an automated, unmanned warehouse project. For the first time, the presence of any employees will not be necessary to operate the hall. All elements of the integrated system will work remotely, in accordance with computer program code, including the operation of forklifts, storage of product pallets, and order preparation.

– The vision of a self-service warehouse where only machines work is no longer a distant future – argues Borys Wochna. – Currently available solutions allow for the creation of a warehouse model that “works” 24 hours a day. Implementing a modern project is not cheap, but in the long run, it allows for significantly lower employment costs and expenses related to warehouse operations (electricity, heating). Additionally, safety and efficiency increase, and the number of errors that can be made by employees decreases. The warehouse will be ready later this year.

The organizers of the Congress were: the Institute of Logistics and Warehousing, the Polish Logistics Society in cooperation with the Poznań School of Logistics. More information is available at: www.still.pl and www.logistics.pl.
