Cheaper transport for spring

The company Planung Transport Verkehr (PTV) from Karlsruhe, Germany, plans to introduce new transport planning tools to the market in the spring of 2010 that will significantly reduce transport costs.

The map&guide and PTV Intertour software have been facilitating logistics and transport operations for their users for 30 years. A route even one kilometer shorter reduces the operating costs of a transport company. This is served by PTV xServer, which allows for the creation of applications based on Internet access. They have the ability to very quickly integrate new functions into the current software “architecture,” such as ERP or CRM systems. Furthermore, thanks to the modular structure of the software, each of its elements can be easily updated. The use of these tools pays off quickly. Companies building their brand’s market position on environmental protection will have the ability to plan routes starting in April, taking into account: environmental zones, the ability to calculate exhaust emissions, and the altitude above sea level of all points on the planned route. It is known that a truck emits less carbon dioxide when driving downhill than uphill. From the spring of 2010, route planning tools will be available that suggest avoiding certain sections at specific times of the day when road congestion is at its highest. This can be of particular importance for planning transports that require special punctuality, such as just-in-time deliveries. Standard transport software does not contain these types of suggestions.
