ERP for the Institute of Logistics and Warehousing

The Institute of Logistics and Warehousing (ILiM) has signed an agreement with Macrologic SA. The agreement concerns the implementation of the Xpertis system. The project will cover areas including: payroll, HR, sales, accounting, and financial information. The Macrologic solution will be the central system handling customer settlements and integrating management data.

The Institute of Logistics and Warehousing is a market-oriented research and development unit employing 120 people. ILiM serves as the Polish competence center for logistics and e-economy. The Institute is under the Ministry of Economy and conducts research and development, laboratory testing, prepares expert opinions, organizes training and conferences, and provides consulting services to numerous enterprises. As the national GS1 organization, it manages the GS1 system in Poland and supports over 17,000 participants in the effective implementation of standards (including GS1 barcodes). The unit is the publisher of the “Logistyka” magazine, the “Biblioteka Logistyka” publishing series, and the portals logistyka.net.pl and e-fakty.pl.

Most of ILiM’s tasks are carried out as independent projects funded from various sources, including the state budget, EU funds, and commercial sources. This mode of operation requires the Institute to accurately account for costs attributable to individual activities and projects, as well as project-based payroll accounting.

The implementation of the ERP system is intended to improve the quality of management information provided to both project managers and the board. The accompanying centralization of cost data in a single system will allow for real-time monitoring of profitability. Analyses will be obtained through the use of OLAP tools.

– Introducing a central system that integrates business process accounting will allow the Institute to further develop its management areas. As a research and development unit, we care about the efficiency and optimization of our solutions. Operating at the intersection of science and business, we are aware of the growing information needs. The new system will increase the efficiency of financial resource utilization and allow for quick access to information necessary for decision-making while reducing the time required for its preparation – says Ewa Kaczmarek, project manager at ILiM.

The consolidation of information will cover all areas of activity. The third system currently used to handle the F-K area will be replaced by one of the Xpertis modules.
