The Fiege Group, based in Greven, Germany, is implementing a new project to build a logistics center in the Rome area. Once completed, with work scheduled to finish in July 2010, the center will be the third-largest facility in Italy. Its total area will be 45,000 square meters. The total cost of the first stage of the investment will exceed 60 million euros.
Thanks to its excellent location, with proximity to, among others, the A1 motorway connecting Milan and Naples, the seaports of Civitavecchia and Naples, and the Roman airports of Fiumicino and Ciampino, the center will be an integral part of the logistics system operating along the main transport route leading from Berlin to Naples. In the new warehouse, Fiege will provide logistics services for clients in the food and retail sectors, while also aiming to expand its offering for the pharmaceutical sector. This latest Fiege facility in Italy is part of the company’s development strategy, which, by utilizing warehouses in Milan, Varese, Lombardy, and Ravenna, intends to create a transport route running from north to south.
