Safe transport at a controlled temperature is essential for such sensitive and specialized shipments as medical samples (sent for laboratory testing, e.g., blood, plasma), research results from academic centers, or chemical reagents. It requires maintaining strictly defined conditions and transport times, which can be provided by a company with an experienced team of specialists, a developed logistics network, and full technological support.
– The transport of sensitive shipments, mainly in the international network, has been carried out by us for several years. Recently, we have observed an increase in interest in this type of service in domestic operations as well. Customers, especially from the pharmaceutical industry, increasingly expect professional support from us in organizing and managing the complex logistics process. By launching a new, highly specialized department now, we are responding to these needs – said Robert Sulich, Product Director at DHL Express (Poland).
The Medical Desk is responsible for the comprehensive management of the transport process for sensitive shipments sent domestically and abroad. A trained team of specialists provides customers with full advice on the specifications of shipments and the packaging that should be used. Its tasks include determining the details of the order execution, the method and time of collection, and delivery of the shipment. At every stage, the transport process is closely monitored – from the moment the order is received, through the delivery of appropriate packaging, packing, and delivery of the shipment to the recipient. In the case of international transport, which covers 220 countries worldwide (depending on the content and packaging material), transit time, customs regulations and procedures in the destination country, and IATA air transport conditions must be taken into account. Consultants from the international section of the Medical Desk advise and provide customers with full information on this subject.
Work on launching the Medical Desk began in May 2009. The domestic section operates from Monday to Friday from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, while the international section operates from Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
