Energy-efficient driving in land transport in Europe is one of DB Schenker’s most important initiatives in the fight against global warming. Over the next few years, the leading transport and logistics service provider will train more than 20,000 truck drivers across Europe – including subcontractor drivers – in energy-efficient driving. A driver can significantly influence the reduction of fuel consumption through their driving style, e.g., preventive actions and smooth driving. Even a one-day course brings visible results. As practice shows, drivers who have completed it use on average up to 10% less fuel. Furthermore, DB Schenker intends to gradually equip trucks with special technical systems – so-called FleetBoard – which allow drivers to check their own driving style.
