Packaging innovations – a new generation of shrink films

Sealed Air, one of the world’s largest manufacturers of packaging solutions, has offered a new generation of shrink films. The latest Cryovac films are even thinner, yet more durable than those previously available on the market. They are suitable for most applications: from CD and DVD packaging, through toys, games, stationery, paintings, office supplies, computer accessories, chocolate boxes, and books, to household products.

The new Cryovac D955 films – with a thickness of only 11 microns – have been designed in response to the expectations of users who are looking for thin films that are easy to transport and dispose of, with high transparency parameters.

– The market expects cost reduction through the use of less material, neutralizing the negative effects of waste disposal on the environment, optimizing energy consumption, and improving the visual appeal of packaged products – confirms Sławomir Kwiatkowski, Regional Sales Manager for Sealed Air in Northern and Central Europe.

A very important feature of the new system is the ease of disposal. A thickness of 11 microns means much less space required for transport, storage, and recycling of used film. The weight of the packaging compared to the most popular 15-micron films is reduced by approx. 25%. Thin film also means lower energy consumption during thermal processing.
