TNT invests in China and Japan

TNT has launched eight additional branches in China and an additional representative office in Japan.

The new branches are located in important economic centers of China: in the Pearl River Delta and the Yangtze River Delta – key industrial and export hubs. With representative offices in Dongguan, Zhongshan, Foshan, Shunde, Nanning, Wenzhou, Kunshan, and Shanghai Pudong, the total number of TNT branches in China has increased to 34. The recent acquisition of the Chinese company Hoau Logistics has allowed TNT to create the largest privately-owned road network in the country, with a fleet of over 2,000 vehicles, 56 transshipment centers, and 1,250 warehouses. The network connects over 400 major cities. Now, TNT can more fully meet the needs of its customers, especially those in the high-tech sector.

TNT is consistently expanding its network of connections and its range of international courier services to meet the needs arising from the dynamic growth of trade between China and Europe (the number of shipments transported by TNT between them increased by over 20 percent in 2008).

The company has also launched a new representative office in Osaka: one of Japan’s most important industrial centers. Currently, shipments from Shanghai and other cities on the Chinese coast are delivered directly to Osaka, which has reduced transport time by one day. These savings are crucial, especially for entities in the electronics and textile industries: for them, delivery time is one of the most important competitive advantages. The reduction in transit times also covered shipments from Vietnam – an important industrial hub recording dynamic growth in exports to Japan.
