The platform, covering 5,000 sq. m. and capable of handling several thousand pallets per day, classified as a class A warehouse, is located in Brovary near Kyiv. METRO Cash & Carry will additionally store goods on an area of 9,000 sq. m. in a central class A warehouse owned by Raben Ukraine. Cooperation between the companies began in 2006 with the establishment of a distribution platform for fresh products, guaranteeing a controlled temperature of +2 to +6 degrees Celsius throughout the entire storage and transport process.
In 2007, Raben Ukraine won a tender for the construction of a separate cross-docking platform for METRO Cash & Carry Ukraine in Dnipropetrovsk, covering over 1,000 sq. m. and capable of handling several hundred pallets per day. Currently, over 50 METRO Cash & Carry suppliers transship their products using this solution. The platform handles over 4,000 pallets per month in less than 48 hours from the moment of loading.
– The experience gained from working with Raben Ukraine encourages us to expand our successful cooperation. With a professional logistics provider, we can ensure synchronized, consolidated, and punctual deliveries. The focus will be primarily on the best possible stock availability and ensuring high quality of fresh products. An optimized cold chain will contribute to better and more efficient service for customers in the currently operating 23 METRO Cash & Carry stores – says Michał Janikowski, Managing Director of MGL Ukraine.
Under the new agreement, Raben Ukraine will deliver up to 45,000 pallets per month from over 500 suppliers. These activities will help consolidate and standardize the delivery process to all METRO Cash & Carry stores located in Ukraine. Orders placed electronically will be sent to the platforms, which will contribute to accelerating the speed and quality of delivery processing.
