The first mobile e-signature is now live!

Business subscribers of the Plus network are the first and currently the only ones in Poland who can sign documents using a mobile phone. The mobile e-signature uses a qualified certificate and allows for the electronic signing of documents, transactions, or data. The service is offered to institutional clients and companies.

The Mobile Electronic Signature can be used to sign various types of “declarations of intent” and allows, among other things, for secure:
– exchanging documents electronically with government offices – ZUS (Social Insurance Institution) and Tax Offices, as well as other institutions,
– submitting administrative applications electronically,
– authenticating electronic invoices,
– authenticating transactions in electronic banking systems,
– exchanging documents with business partners electronically.

In the future, the e-signature could also be used, for example, to cast a vote in elections. The mobile e-signature uses a SIM card and a mobile phone for authentication. It is a cheaper and simpler alternative to the previously offered solutions based on microprocessor cards. Data to be signed is presented on a computer screen and signed using the mobile phone’s SIM card. Authentication takes place thanks to a special module located on the SIM card.

Activating the service for customers involves signing a two-year contract, an additional subscription fee of 10 PLN net per month, and an activation fee of the same amount. The service is aimed at new and existing subscribers of the Plus network’s business offer. When signing the contract, a Polkomtel employee verifies the user’s identity and issues a qualified certificate. From that moment on, the user is “recognizable” by all participants in the system (banks, auction sites, payment systems) without the need for re-identification. The use of a qualified certificate in the Mobile Electronic Signature system ensures the highest level of legal and technological security. The Mobile Electronic Signature is a proven and already utilized solution. In Poland, it has already been implemented by the company MobiTrust (One-2-One group) for the National Police Headquarters.

The launch of the service is the result of an agreement between the Plus network operator and the company MobiTrust (One-2-One group) – the author of the solution, and the National Clearing House – the certification authority. Phones currently in the Plus offer have the technical capabilities to support the mobile e-signature.
