FedEx Express expands delivery reach

FedEx Express has expanded the reach of its FedEx International Priority Next-Business-Day delivery service from Europe to major cities on the US East Coast. Customers who were previously offered a two-business-day delivery service can now reach over 3,500 postal codes in key US East Coast markets by the next business day. The main advantage of Next-Business-Day deliveries in this region is the extension of the pickup time by up to six hours.

As part of the new service, FedEx will deliver shipments to cities such as Washington, New York, Newark, Philadelphia, Boston, and Baltimore by 3:00 PM Eastern Time at no extra charge. The new delivery terms will now become the standard for the FedEx International Priority service, which means an additional benefit for customers. In turn, the FedEx International Priority Freight service also covers heavy or oversized shipments from European transit cities.

In Poland, the Next-Business-Day service for shipments up to 68 kg sent to the USA will appear for the first time in the offer for 19,000 postal code zones, including areas around cities such as Szczecin, Katowice, Krakow, Wroclaw, Bydgoszcz, Torun, Bialystok, and Lodz. Companies in over 9,000 postal regions will benefit from the improved next-business-day delivery service to the US East Coast. Customers in the areas of Warsaw, Poznan, Gdansk, Gdynia, and Sopot will gain an extension of the shipment pickup time by up to 6 hours.

The United States is the fifth largest investor in Poland after the Netherlands, Germany, France, and Luxembourg. By the end of 2006, American companies had invested approximately 8.6 billion USD in Poland. The trade balance between the USA and Poland in 2007 amounted to 5.5 billion USD. The value of exports from Poland to the USA, including furniture parts and high-power engines, amounted to 2.1 billion USD, while imports from the USA to Poland amounted to 3.5 billion USD.

To introduce the improved service, FedEx has launched a new westbound transatlantic connection, operated once a day from Tuesday to Friday by an MD-11 aircraft between Paris (Charles de Gaulle Airport) and Newark (New Jersey). The flight segment between Europe and the United States is part of FedEx’s westbound flights around the world. Thanks to this, the company can offer access to key markets around the world with very competitive transit times. The company has also introduced new flights operated by an Airbus A310 aircraft, including flights from Barcelona and Budapest-Vienna.
