Complete the survey – influence the future of freight transport

As part of the KOMODA project “Co-modality – integration and optimization of chains in freight transport logistics”, co-financed by the European Commission’s 7th Framework Programme, the NewRail team at Newcastle University is gathering expert opinions on topics related to transport, e-logistics, and ICT.

An innovation action plan will be created, characterized by a high degree of consistency in clearly defined stages, leading to the construction of an integrated e-logistics system in Europe based on the principles of co-modality. Since freight transport and information technologies are at the center of the Freight Transport Logistics Action Plan published by the European Commission, there is an opportunity to directly influence the future development of European Commission policy and actions in the area of freight transport and ICT – simply by taking part in the research by filling out the questionnaire available at: http://www.survey.bris.ac.uk/newcastle/komoda1

The KOMODA project is a response to the TPT 2007.2 call (7th Framework Programme) regarding the optimization of logistics chains through the application of the co-modality concept. The goal of the project is to create a roadmap, along with proposals for specific actions, which will lead to the future creation of an integrated e-logistics platform covering all modes of transport and the entire territory of Europe. The project coordinator is the Institute of Logistics and Warehousing, and the partners are renowned institutions from England, Italy, Germany, Slovenia, Finland, Portugal, and Greece.
Among other things, as part of the work divided into 6 work packages, a Delphi study involving individual participants in logistics chains has been planned as a tool to gain a full picture of the e-logistics applications used in transport operations, their sources, availability, functionality, and the method and degree of use by individual enterprises.
