Over 130 Polish online stores have been subjected to a detailed assessment regarding their legal compliance and the completeness of information published on their websites. The Certification Body at the Institute of Logistics and Warehousing, responsible for awarding the Euro-Label mark in Poland, inspected only those stores that appeared in last year’s Wprost ranking of the best e-shops in Poland. The results of this audit are alarming.
The Certification Body at the Institute of Logistics and Warehousing reviewed the most popular online stores in Poland in terms of fulfilling the information obligations imposed by Polish law. The analysis covered 134 online stores, which were the top-ranked entities in the 2007 Wprost weekly ranking. According to the detailed scoring scheme for individual websites, stores could obtain a maximum of 120 points (if the store met all information requirements). No one managed to achieve this result.
The best result – 113 points – was achieved by 1.5 percent of the surveyed stores. 20 stores (14.9 percent) scored above 101 points, 42 stores (31.3 percent) scored above 80 points, and 37 stores (27.6 percent) fell into the 50 to 80-point range. 55 stores (41 percent) scored below 50 points.
The results of the assessment conducted by the body awarding the Euro-Label mark left no stone unturned for Polish e-shops. While they perform quite well in terms of customer service, the majority of the “best” stores struggle with their information obligations. Only one in three surveyed stores did this reasonably correctly.
