In the article titled “National vs. European guidelines for rack dimensioning in the context of operational safety” (Logistyka 6/2001, 1/2002 and 2/2002), the author highlighted issues related to the interpretation of guidelines, regulations, and standards concerning the determination of rack load-bearing capacity, with particular emphasis on the impact of differences between national and European regulations on load-bearing capacity calculation results and, consequently, on their operational safety.
In this article, however, other equally important issues determining the safety of designed or already operated rack systems will be addressed. These are issues related to the process of load-bearing capacity analysis using computer technology, and in particular, the creation of a computational model.
