Mail Boxes Etc. was founded in 1980 in the United States. Currently, the global network has approximately 6,000 locations in 58 countries, of which about a thousand operate in Europe. In 2007, the network took first place in Entrepreneur magazine’s “Franchise 500” ranking in the postal and business services category for the last 17 years. The ranking evaluates the best franchise systems in terms of financial stability, the strength of the business concept, and their growth potential in foreign markets. Since 2001, MBE has belonged to the international corporation UPS. It is the world’s largest package delivery company and one of the leading global providers of specialized transportation and logistics services.
Currently, Mail Boxes Etc. is the most important partner for UPS in terms of retail customer service. The cooperation in Poland looks similar. All courier services ordered at Polish MBE branches are carried out by UPS, offering lower shipping rates.
Currently, there are six MBE branches operating in Poland. Four of them operate in Warsaw, and one each in Katowice and Krakow. The task of these MBE points was to verify the national demand for services provided by the network. According to information from Dariusz Babiarczyk, Director of Organization and Marketing at Mail Boxes Etc., the branches are successfully achieving MBE’s set goals and showing a trend of increasing sales and profits.
– Existing MBE branches have reached a level of satisfactory profits. We forecast that the increase in turnover in 2008 will amount to 130 percent compared to the previous year – says Dariusz Babiarczyk. – According to our assumptions, sales at MBE will increase by approximately 40 percent in the coming years. The network intends to utilize the market potential and ultimately open 100 – 120 MBE branches throughout Poland.
