AXTONE SA, a major supplier of buffers for freight and passenger wagons, locomotives, and public transport vehicles, continues to implement a contract for PKP PLK in Poznań together with the TENS Sp. z o.o. consortium. The agreement concerns the installation of 8 directional tracks into the Automatic Uncoupling Speed Control System (SARPO) at the Poznań-Franowo marshalling yard. The investment is scheduled for completion in November 2008.
The solution implemented by the AXTONE and TENS consortium stands out significantly from currently operating systems. SARPO is characterized by high resistance to variable weather conditions. Furthermore, due to the ability to precisely control the speed of uncouplings, it ensures a high level of safety for rolling stock and transported goods.
– We are pleased that our contractors are investing in modernity and safety. The extension of the contract at the Poznań-Franowo station serves as an excellent recommendation for our products. Thanks to such effective cooperation, we are consistently strengthening our position in the railway industry – said Marcin Kowalczyk, President of the Management Board of the AXTONE Group.
The main element of SARPO is an active track brake mounted on the rail foot. It is used for the effective regulation of the speed of uncouplings rolling down from marshalling humps. Automated control of wagon marshalling ensures reliability, ergonomics, and most importantly – the safety of transported cargo.
The AXTONE Group is also the creator of innovative solutions used in Crash-type buffers. Their technological advantage lies primarily in their excellent ability to absorb large amounts of energy. Furthermore, their small dimensions and ease of selecting technical parameters allow for their installation in all types of rail vehicles. Crash-type buffers and other solutions related to energy absorption technology developed by AXTONE Group engineers will be presented from September 23-26 during the largest railway trade fair in Europe – InnoTrans Berlin 2008.
