The article discusses the statistical analysis of the relationship between the cause of a product being deemed defective and the material supplier. The study examined the influence of the supplier on the quality of input material over time, and analyzed the company’s decision-making process when selecting an input material supplier.
Defectiveness is the primary and most frequently used measure of a product’s quality level. The quality of the final product – disregarding manufacturing aspects, customer expectations, etc. – depends on the properties of the input material. The goal of the study was to identify the best supplier in terms of the quality of the supplied material. Material quality was the factor determining the choice of material supplier by the manufacturer. Additional elements influencing the recipient’s decision-making process were their budgetary capabilities, with this element being treated as a supporting factor in the supplier selection process.
