Italian logistics in the transport sector

Italy (301.3 thousand sq. km of area, approx. 57.5 million inhabitants) is a country that has been a member of the European Union since its very inception. This entails the need to solve problems and make decisions at both the national and EU levels.

These decisions concern various issues, including those related to transport, as well as matters of broadly defined logistics. In this area, there are eight primary organizations approved by the Ministry of Foreign Trade of the Italian Republic. These include:
1. Assoferr (Association of Railway Carriers)
2. Assologistica (Association of Logistics Fleet Owners)
3. Fedespedi (Association of International Freight Forwarding Companies)
4. Federtransporto (Federation of Transporters)
5. Ailog (organization bringing together experts and trainers)
6. Assointerporti (Association of Transshipment Ports)
7. Confetra (General Confederation of Logistics)
8. Conftransporto (Confederation of Transport, Forwarding and Logistics).
The task of the above organizations is to implement innovative projects, coordinate them, and in particular, to ensure the development of logistics infrastructure (railways, ports, roads) and logistics services among the 155,000 small export companies operating in Italy.
