Previous issues of Logistyka described IT tools used by Groenewout consultants and engineers in operational and tactical consulting. This article discusses the software used to support strategic logistics decisions regarding distribution networks.
The simulation software used by consultants is a tool for analyzing and modeling supply chains. The program is used to analyze the locations of warehouse and transshipment points, as well as the flows of product groups along the entire chain. Based on the analysis of flow volumes between shipping and receiving points, as well as the characteristics of these locations and storage points, distribution network scenarios are created. The scope of the model is arbitrary; it can cover individual regions, countries, groups of countries, or even all of Europe.
