The first in a series of seminars under the banner “Powered by Logistics”, dedicated to the practical aspects of the interaction between the Microsoft Dynamics AX ERP system, which supports enterprise management, and a WMS (Warehouse Management System) class warehouse system, was held at Microsoft’s Warsaw headquarters.
A key element of the seminar was the presentation of the interface between the AX and logifactWMS systems. Their integration provides measurable benefits related to time and labor savings, the elimination of errors, and a very clear demarcation of competencies between logistics at the strategic level (represented by the ERP system) and at the operational level (the WMS system).
Wojciech Malczewski, project manager for Partner Logistics at Response, presented the functionalities of the AX system in terms of handling delivery fulfillment processes and customer orders at the logistics level represented by ERP class systems.
In turn, the president of Logifact, Dr. Eng. Andrzej Bobiński, co-founder of the Transport Department at the Warsaw University of Technology, presented the possibilities offered by a WMS class system for managing the flow of goods in real time. Such a system differs from a transactional system in that it deals with events in the flow of goods process that do not necessarily have to be covered by the parent system. Above all, however, the WMS system is characterized by high flexibility and scalability, which in short means that it can be expanded and modified to meet the diverse needs of medium and large enterprises from various industries.
The seminar was prepared by the companies Response, Logifact-Systems, and the Polish branch of Microsoft, which is sponsoring the entire undertaking.
Further seminars are planned after the summer holidays.
