A brief reflection on the structure of modern logistics – part 1

I have long been an attentive reader of every subsequent issue of “Logistyka”. I share this habit with my students, by the way. We find a lot of interesting information in this magazine about modern trends and solutions. This information often forms the basis for discussions during classes.
In the last issue, however, I found something that interested me particularly. It was an article published in the “Logistics Education” section containing the answers that Professor Mirosław Chaberek from the University of Gdańsk gave to questions asked by readers of “Logistyka”. I must admit that I first paid attention not to the answers, but to the questions. In each case, these were questions with subtext, clearly indicating the doubts that trouble their authors. By applying a simple editorial procedure, the questions asked can be combined into one: How is it that logistics, on the one hand, still has problems with defining its essence, subject, and scope, while on the other hand, its practical applications are developing extremely quickly and bringing so many practical results?

The article comes from the magazine “Logistyka” 2001/6.
